From The Patch New Jersey
The GOAT is Chef Burke’s 7th New Jersey restaurant and it is opening in April.
HAZLET, NJ — This spring, Chef David Burke will open his third restaurant in Monmouth County. Following Rumson’s Red Horse in 2021, the restaurateur will open The GOAT in Union Beach in early April.
The American bistro will be housed in what was previously Piero’s, which closed in the fall of 2021 and will have a bar and dining space for 110 guests, as well as a separate private event space for up to 100 guests.
Burke intends to hold fun, themed events reminiscent of old-timey food halls in the upstairs private dining area, in addition to social and business affairs.
The GOAT is accepting reservations for Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day.
The menu is inspired by modern Continental and American cuisines, with dishes like dry-aged prime beef, lamb, pizzas, several house-made pastas, a variety of refreshing salads, seafood dishes and steaks.
Burke intends to include as many local food and beverage producers as possible, with Barnegat Oyster Collection, Two River Mushrooms, and Three Forks Green already on the list.
THE GOAT by David Burke is about a half-mile from where Burke grew up in Hazlet.
“We will draw from the local Bayshore communities, Staten Island, Middletown, Colts Neck, Red Bank and beyond. I grew up near here and I’m very excited about THE GOAT,” Burke said.
